Spain cancels agreement aimed towards independence of Catalonia – The Day online

Madrid. The Spanish Constitutional Court dealt today a new blow to the process of independence that drives the government of Catalonia to overturn the agreement reached in the Parliament to arrange a series of laws that would facilitate the rupture with Spain.

The high court said today the “nullity” of the three papers that the Catalan Chamber boosted in march, with the support of the party of independence, as a basis for developing the law of transience legal towards a Catalan State, and the creation of a tax agency and social security system in catalonia.

The lawyers of the Parliament of the region are already warned in his time that the procedure could be unconstitutional. The rest of the parliamentary groups opposed to the initiative. Now, in response to appeals by the liberal party of Citizens and of the Socialist Party, the Constitutional considers that with the creation of these presentations, in which only involved secessionist, violate the rights of the other formations.

The high court also said today in part an appeal by the Spanish Government against the Catalan law of external action and relations with the European Union (EU) to understand that it invades powers corresponding to the Spanish State.

The judgments take place hours before the start of a summit on independence held in Catalonia by the president of the government of the region, Carles Puigdemont, to address the possible convening of a referendum sovereignty in 2017.

“the Referendum is not going to be because it goes against the Constitution,” settled today, the minister spokesman of the Spanish government, Iñigo Méndez de Vigo. “I would like that any decision (at the summit of independence) do not be carried away by the radio,” he said.

The Executive of the conservative Mariano Rajoy has opposed from the beginning to the plans that had seceded from the Catalan government and has contested every step of the way to the Constitutional Court. In recent weeks, Madrid has insured that is open to dialogue with Catalonia, however, there has been no progress.
