The Spanish Supreme Court reduced from twelve to four and a half years is worth to the two anarchists chilean convicted for the bombings that took place in October 2013 in Zaragoza, considering that should not be punished the facts as the two crimes separately, of injury and of damage terrorist, but as a single one.

Francisco Javier Solar, known as “Loving”, and Monica Andrea Caballero, “Moniquita”, were accused of placing in the Basílica del Pilar an artifact composed by a butane gas cylinder, two kilograms of gunpowder and a clock trigger that broke out in the central nave.

The attack caused impairment in several wooden benches situated in front of the altar, and caused damage in one ear to a woman that was in the premises.

With this reduction of sentence, the high Spanish court accepted the appeal of one of the convicted, and found that the punishment, for a few facts that it was tested, it should be as the author of a single crime, even more so considering that the damage for the attack, which amounted to a total of 143.317 euros, did not affect severely to goods of cultural and historical interest.

The detainee explained during the trial that the small homemade device chasing attacking a religious symbol as an element of the power set, but does not cause injury to any person.

According to the argument, it remains to be demonstrated because the area where it was located in the engine was closed to the public at the time of the attack. In addition, the device I didn’t have shrapnel and gave notice of it before its detonation.

Both belonged to the “Command Insurrectional Matthew Backpack“, the same that was attributed to the placement of an artifact in the cathedral of The Almudena of Madrid in February 2013, and were preparing action against the Basilica of Montserrat from Barcelona.
