"The Council sessions are not for discussing the crap of Now Getafe, that above confuses the baptism, which began to take place centuries ago, with the registration of a birth in the civil registry," said Antonio Jose Mesa, deputy spokesman of the PP of Getafe.

The PP complaint Now Getafe says that baptism is a celebration of the franco regime, in a way that "demonstrates an absolute ignorance of the history of Spain and of the social traditions".

The proposition Now Getafe which will be discussed in the full Council of Getafe this Friday already have been carried out in other municipalities of Spain. The first baptism civil ceremony in Spain took place in 2004 in the Catalan town of Igualada.
