Catalonia votes in favor of referendum-independence – Radio Sunday

The Catalan Parliament has approved a resolution on a referendum on independence, reports the newspaper ‘The Country’.

The parties have managed to pass the parliamentary resolution are the coalition Junts pel Yes -formed by heterogeneous political formations – and the party of the radical left CUP, which in total have an absolute majority (72 votes in a Chamber formed by 135 seats). The deputies of the liberal party of Citizens and of the conservative Popular Party (PP) rejected vote, hands up, in protest.

With this approval, is precisely the calendar of what the independents call the process of disconnection institutional of Catalonia.

The resolution states that the referendum secessionist will have a clear question with two answers binary and that the Parliament will activate the “all devices legislation needed to carry out the holding of the referendum and to give at the same time, legal coverage”. In contrast, the group that brings together the ICV, Can and EUiA abstained in the proposal form within one month a follow-up committee to promote a “constituent process” in Catalonia, backed by JxSí and CUP.

CSQP has opted for abstention as a gesture after the movements of the Executive Catalan to seek an agreement with the State, but this does not mean that you share the roadmap of independence unilateral Government. In addition, the public Prosecutor Superior of Justice of Catalonia has requested a penalty of ten years of ineligibility for the president of the Generalitat Artur Mas, for organizing the consultation on the independence of Catalonia of November 9, 2014.
