“there Has to be separation of powers and that is not met in Venezuela”, said the vice-president of the Spanish Government.

After being questioned on the suspension of the process of collecting signatures to convene a recall referendum against Maduro, Sáenz de Santamaría, did enter into the legal debate, but urged the venezuelan Government to “respect the Human Rights, the separation of powers and the independence of the judiciary”.

In the opinion of the vice-president of the Spanish Government, these “essential requirements” are not met in Venezuela, and the country suffers from the absence of the “essence of a true democracy”.
