With modernisation proposal and evaluation of progress with the Government Air traffic Controllers held their Day – Radio Las Nieves

Santiago.- Yesterday, Thursday 20 October, the Air Traffic Controllers of Chile celebrated their International Day in a ceremony that counted with the presence of the under-secretary for the Armed Forces, Paulina Vodanovic, and the Director of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), General of Air Brigade (A) Victor Villalobos Collao, among other authorities and representatives of public and private entities linked to air navigation.

The event was held in the Hall of Honor of the former National Congress, an opportunity that the School of Air Traffic Controllers made an assessment of the progress achieved with the Government, after the tense episodes in the past year and the creation of a table technician currently in operation.

During his speech, the president of the College of Air Traffic Controllers, Hector Ibarra thanked the authorities of their willingness to dialogue and your openness to welcoming a part of their concerns. "In the technical table that you are currently satisfied with the Government we have been able to move towards a harmonious development of the career and economic improvements that make it more attractive as an option, vocational, and employment.

We are also working, in the determination of a working day optimal to always maintain a high standard of security. And along with it we are addressing what is the best age to leave the work of control, before that increase the risks associated with the natural wear that occurs a profession of high stress, such as ours," he said.

But, in the occasion the guild was also a proposal to create a separate entity to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) which is responsible for air navigation services, such as occurs in other countries since the decade of the 90s began to separate the functions which today concentrates the DGCA.

Chile is the only OECD country that maintains the three functions (normative, regulatory and service delivery) into a single agency. And this happens from almost 50 years ago (1968), with the consequences that this has, even to the security area.

"we Believe that it is time to put on the table the need for our country to stop being the only one in the OECD is concentrated in a single agency the functions of providing services, to monitor and regulate. This not only involves being outside or inside of a ranking, but a series of difficulties, barriers and problems that plague our guild: for example, in an organization that concentrates so many foci of interest, as is the case with the DGCA, do not reach the resources that should be devoted to our area, and this, in turn, causes that we are behind in equipment, in software, in training and that we have a major shortfall of workers that must be overcome", he said.

For his part, the assistant secretary-Pauline Vodanovic highlighted the work the government and the guild have been undertaken to achieve progress against the concerns raised after the stoppage of September 2015 and, together with this, he emphasized the commitment and the professional quality of the men and women that develop this important task. He concluded his intervention by reading greetings sent by President Michelle Bachelet, in which he stressed the function they perform "meticulous and silently, but always with a high degree of professionalism that makes them to have the recognition of their international peers. Reason, by the way, of which we pride ourselves, as it gives an account of a job well done, responsible and committed to perform day to day".

Experiencia mexican
