The Parlament de les Illes will approve tomorrow a new institutional declaration with the aim of keep the schedule of the summer during the next few months. The end of the schedule of the summer was planned at the national level the next day, October 30.

the Balearic Islands is the first autonomous community in to see the rays of the sun, but also the first to say goodbye to it. As a result, the autonomous community enjoys, approximately, one hour less of sunshine than the rest of the iberian peninsula. With this measure —which must be approved in advance by the Congress of Deputies—, the Balearic Islands will have a schedule adjusted to its geographical position.

This move will allow the inhabitants of the Balearic Islands enjoy the day light in a spectrum most appropriate. In addition, from the economic point of view, would allow to reduce significantly the power consumption and increase the pace of life of the population.

This decision also pulls out again the need to change the time zone applied in Spain, which corresponds to the time zone central european. Spain, like Portugal, you should take the time zone of London, according to the geographical position of the country.

Mariano Rajoy already proposed to change the time zone for the past few months, although the proposal was in smoke. However, the arrival in the congress of this new proposal for part of the Balearic Islands will reopen again the debate on the need to abandon the time zone of central Europe, adopted during the Second World War by a decision strictly political.
