Ask for 9 months of prison for Femen they desecrated Cathedral of the Almudena in Madrid – ACI Prensa

MADRID, 20 Oct. 16 / 07:21 am (ICA).- The Court of Instruction number 29, Madrid in Spain, has agreed to the request of the Prosecutor’s office and the Association of Christian Lawyers, the opening of the trial against the two activists of Femen who on the 13th of June, 2014, stormed the iconic Cathedral of the Almudena.

The two women entered the Cathedral of Madrid, he was chained to the crucifix on the altar, and exhibited the naked torso with the inscription "altar to an abortion" while screaming "illegal abortion, let’s take the altar" or "abortion is sacred". The police came to cut the chains and arrest them.

As reported by Christian Lawyers, the prosecutor has considered the facts as constituting an offence against the religious feelings according to the article 524 of the Spanish Criminal Code, and has requested a sentence of nine months imprisonment for each of the accused.

In a statement issued by the Association of Christian Lawyers are reminded that when presented with the indictment in march of 2016, "was not sought maximum punishment against the accused and therefore requested two years in prison and 46 months of fine, so that you do not have to go to prison", but stressed that "called for justice".

From this Association highlights that in a similar case that took place in February 2014 when a group of six activists broke into a church of Palma de Mallorca while celebrating a mass, have recently been sentenced to a year in prison by the Provincial court of the Balearic islands.
