NATO fears that naval fleet Russian to be used against civilians in Aleppo – The Universe

The vessels Russian military that is currently heading to Syria could be used to attack civilians in the besieged city of Aleppo, said Tuesday the secretary general of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, and he made a call to Moscow to implement a cease-fire extended on the area of the conflict.

NATO is closely following a maritime fleet that departed from the north of Russia in the direction of Gibraltar en route to the east of the Mediterranean, officials of the alliance fear that Moscow might launch bombers from that area against the north-east of Syria at the beginning of November.

"The fleet could be used to strengthen the capacity of Russia to take part in combat operations in Syria and even to launch more bombing against Aleppo," said Stoltenberg.

"We are concerned that the fleet, which includes an aircraft carrier, to be used as a platform to strengthen the military operations against civilians in Aleppo", said at a press conference, at the time that he made a call to stop all the bombing.

The fleet military, which crossed the English Channel on Friday, is composed by the only aircraft carrier Russian admiral Kuznetsov, in addition to a vessel with nuclear capabilities, two ships anti-submarine and four ships of support, possibly escorted by submarines, said the NATO.

The deployment, a rare event since the end of the soviet era, it also includes dozens of bombers and helicopters, and is expected to add up to around other 10naves Russian that are already off the coast of Syria, told diplomats.

The U.s. envoy to NATO said that Russia was within its rights to move vessels within international waters.

military Analysts argue that the deployment is a demonstration of the Russian military, as very few countries have the capability to send a fleet of great size tanlejos, although possibly the ships will need to refuel in Spain. (I)
