Defence ministers of NATO will implement decisions of the Warsaw Summit – Information Center for China Internet

The Defense ministers of the Organization of the North Atlantic Treaty (NATO) will meet to “review progress” in the implementation of the decisions agreed at the Warsaw Summit and to “trace the route to follow”, stated today the secretary general of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg.

Prior to the ministerial meeting for the next two days, Stoltenberg said that the heads of State and government of NATO took a series of decisions to promote the deterrence and defense and to project stability in the neighborhood in the summit in July.

An agreement of the summit was that starting in 2017, NATO will have four battalions multinational in the eastern part of the alliance in an attempt to expand its presence in Eastern Europe.

“In our morning meeting, the countries responsible for leading the four battalions, Canada, Germany, United Kingdom and the united States, shall set out their plans for the battalions that will lead,” said Stoltenberg.

in Addition, the Defense ministers of NATO will present plans to strengthen the NATO presence in the Black sea region, as agreed at the summit, and assess the infrastructure in the partner countries to allow the rapid movement of forces of the NATO in Europe.

In terms of “projecting stability” in the neighborhood, or to expand the capacity building to the partners, Stoltenberg said that the alliance will intensify the fight against the Islamic State and will provide aircraft surveillance Awacs of the NATO coalition.

During the first ministerial meeting after the Summit in Warsaw, the NATO will discuss how to deepen the cooperation between NATO and the European Union.
