Mexican will receive Princess of Asturias for the UN – Milenio.com

Patricia Espinosa, executive secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, came to Oviedo, Spain, to receive the Prize, Princess of Asturias of International Cooperation granted in conjunction with the Agreement in Paris (COP 21).

Espinosa will be the guest speaker at the gala who will lead the kings Felipe IV and Letizia. In addition to the mexican, speak other award-winning in multiple categories.

Along with she will receive the award, Christiana Figueres, former executive secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, and Laurent Fabius, president of the XXI International Conference on Climate Change.

The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement, were declared the winners of the Prize Princess of Asturias of International Cooperation, 2016, for its two decades of work to reduce the influence on the increase of the temperature.

The jury met in June to deliberate, considered that the Paris Agreement is a “historic milestone” reached in December of 2015, in which 195 countries committed themselves finally to achieve a model of universal development that gradually reduce the polluting emissions”.

The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change aims at stabilizing the emissions of greenhouse gases in a way that “prevents the harmful interference of human beings in the climate system”.
