Catholics condemn Halloween decoration in a Mcdonald’s – Press of Honduras

Spain.

The Catholic Church has been outraged after an establishment of the fast-food chain Mcdonald’s in Spain celebrated Halloween with an image of the Virgin of the Carmen bloodied holding the Child Jesus beheaded.

The episcopal delegate of missions of the diocese of Toledo, Fernando Redondo, condemned the incident through his twitter account where he questioned: "So do you respect freedom of religion? Shame."

For its part, the P. Emilio Palomo, a priest of the archdiocese of Toledo, also condemned on twitter the placement of the image expressing his "pain and disgust".

The Spanish newspaper la Gaceta reported that the priest of Alcaudete de la Jara in Toledo, P. Juan Antonio Pérez Revenga, questioned what happened: "isn’t there another way of decorating the facility for (…) Halloween that doing damage? Do I need this? Why not put a buddha beheaded, or best an image of Mohammed to be beheaded? This is very strong”, reports Aciprensa.

The priest encouraged "those who want to the Virgin and to the Lord" not to eat at Mcdonald s and said that if its managers "do not know how to respect, we are going to hit them where it hurts: in the pocket".

With the controversy and discomfort that arose, the responsible of the establishment had to remove the image.

Benito Sagredo, apologized for the unfortunate fact that generated the repudiation of catholics in the social networks.

“On behalf of myself and the entire team of the restaurant I want to apologize publicly for this unfortunate incident, that has at no time been intended to be. In any case, the decoration for the occasion of Halloween, responds to an initiative exclusively local of my restaurant, so this issue is at the margin of the brand.”

“I Sincerely apologize to all the people who feel they have been offended by this unintentional and unfortunate incident”, he reiterated.
