In Cusco prepare event called ‘Girls power’ – Daily Mail

In the framework of the celebration of “International Day of the Girl", the Regional Directorate of Education and Plan International, to promote the initiative called “Girls in Power”, next Tuesday, the 11th of October, in the auditorium of the Regional Government Cusco, from 9:30 hours.

In this event, girls and adolescents of various organizations and spaces representative of the childhood in peru, to occupy symbolically positions of power to listen to their demands for a school environment that allows them to learn, to lead, to decide and to develop their full potential.

According to data from the Enares 2015 (National Survey on Social Relations, 2015), the 73.8% of girls and children, 81.3% of adolescents was a victim of psychological violence or physical at some time in their lives, on the part of those with whom they live.

Symbolically during the ceremony, the governor of Cusco Edwin Licona, imposed the band as a regional authority to a girl, who for a few moments to develop the role of maximum regional authority providing attendees with a speech, also, will read a pronouncement in favour of girls and adolescents.

The objective of this initiative is to make a call to the authorities of our region and our country, on the condition of girls and women in society, that becomes invisible, marginalizes and limits taking into account that in Peru there is still a machista society.
