The Brigade of Forest Fire quelled yesterday afternoon a fire erupted in the estate of olive groves, a former New California, located in the locality of Chumbicha, Capayán, and which affected approximately 50 acres.
Around the 16th, the Brigade became aware of the loss in a field located at km 525 of the national route 38. Two crews of Firefighters moved quickly to the place and after hard work managed to turn it off.
According to said Cristian Velárdez, head of the Brigade, the fire originated because it had been making a burning of grasslands and to the prevailing wind, it spread quickly which made it dangerous the situation.
“because of the speed of the wind, the fire got out of hand and spread to the farm of olive trees,” he said Velárdez.
For such a task was convened to the aircraft hydrant but due to the strong gusts only was able to make a single shot.
Finally, the chief of Brigade, explained that around 20 the fire was controlled.
“it Was very important the collaboration of the employees of the farm who with tractors and armoured vehicles, supplied to the trucks hydrants to be able to control the fire.”

From the Brigade, it is requested that the people take conscience in regard to the prevention of fires. “These days there will be strong gusts of wind and no rainfall is expected, despite the fact that there will be a decrease in temperature. The vegetation is dry and it is very easy to ignite and propagate the flames”, he explained.
