Rajoy communicates his intention to be re-elected president of the Popular Party – Investing.com Spain

MADRID (Reuters) – The president of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, announced on Monday the Executive Committee of its formation, of its intention to attend the next national congress to be re-elected president of the Popular Party.

The long-awaited announcement was confirmed by the vice-secretary of communication of the PP, Paul Married, after the weekly meeting of the executive popular. It is expected that the congress of the training to be held on 10, 11 and 12 February.

The presentation of the candidacies to run for the election will close next Thursday, and, except surprises, Rajoy will not find opposition among their ranks in the vote on the participation of 3,128 convention delegates.

The position of leadership of Rajoy in the party has been bolstered recently, following be sworn of a new president of the Government of Spain, thanks to a historic abstention of the PSOE which ended more than 10 months of political blockade, and prevented the holding of a third election in less than a year.
