Born butterflies largest in the world – LaCapital.com.ar

The Oceanogràfic of Valencia, a cultural complex and architectural, recorded on Friday the birth of a group of Attacus atlas, butterflies of the world’s largest, a species native to southeast asia whose wings have a wingspan of about 30 centimeters.

These butterflies have, by the size of their wings, a flight form heavy, carried by the wind direction. The females are larger and stronger than the males. In some countries, such as India, these species are cultivated for their utility in the production of brown silk of the type fagara, similar to wool, that the butterflies secrete in threads are not continuous. These butterflies live only a few days, as they have no digestive system and, therefore, may not feed during their adult phase. In exchange, they get all their energy from feeding of leaves of fruit trees during caterpillar.
