Rescued crew of fishing vessel sunk off coast spain – Prensa Latina

03 February, 2017 13:45Madrid, 3 feb (PL) The Spanish authorities rescued the 12 crew of a fishing boat that sank today about 50 miles from the coast of the autonomous community of Asturias, in the north of the iberian country.

Three helicopters and three boats sent to the scene of the accident of the ship, called the Gure Uxua, spotted the fishermen on the rafts that were safe and were able to rescatarles, reported the Society Lifesaving and Maritime Security.

The ship began to sink Friday in the midst of a strong gale in the asturian coast, which is why the principality is located on orange alert.

According to Maritime Rescue -entity responsible for the search and rescue operations in the areas of responsibility assigned to Spain-five of the crew were evacuated to the town of Celeiro and seven others to the city of Gijón.

The vessel of 24 metres in length and dedicated to the fishing of hake, is a fishing of the Spanish region of Galicia (north) and his crew is composed of Spanish, although amongst them there is also a Portuguese.

Though are not clear the causes of the sinking, the mayor of the galician town of Cariño, José Miguel Alonso, believes that the boat could be affected by a temporary very large and not managed to find a coat when coming back from French waters.
