Promote the conservation of wetlands of los Cabos – The Sun of Zacatecas

The Peace, BCS.- With the aim of creating public awareness about the importance of wetlands, the city government helped with the National Commission of Protected Areas on the World Wetlands Day 2017 "Wetlands for the Reduction of Disaster Risk", which was attended by 100 students of the Technological Institute of Superior Studies of San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas with a tour in the estuary and bird-watching as well as talks informative.

On behalf of the mayor, Arturo De la Rosa Escalante attended Luis Emilio Losa Hernández, general director of Ecology and Environment, who said that the World Day of Wetlands was approved by the standing committee of the Convention of Wetlands, which is an intergovernmental treaty that provides a framework for national action and international cooperation for the benefit of the conservation and wise use of wetlands and their resources, was established from the February 2, 1996.

In San Jose del Cabo and the chronicler of the city, Gabriel Fonseca Verdugo gave the talk "The History of Añuití and Estero Josefino"; the oceanóloga, Sofia Gomez Vallarta provided "RAMSAR convention on wetlands and the Environmental Services they provide to wetlands in Mexico"; the staff of the Biosphere Reserve Sierra la Laguna shared to "Sierra de la Laguna: its importance, the ecological value and its influence to the Basin of the Estuary" and also held a photographic exhibition of birds of the Estero San José.
