Spain: Castellón exceeds record of transfers in 2016, with 17 million tonnes – PortalPortuario (blog)

The Port of Castellón closed to 2016, surpassing their historical records with a goods traffic in 2016 that came to 17.076.064 tons, which represents a 3.65% over the previous year, according to the annual balance sheet of the port authority.

In that sense, Castellón has beaten in 2016, their records of traffic of solid bulk cargo, general merchandise, full containers and in transit with a growth of 12.1%, 11.3, 14% and 346%, respectively.

Francisco de Toledo, President of the Port Authority of Castellón stated that "sheds a figures that are consolidated to PortCastelló among the first in the Spanish port system". "These data show the dynamism in the economy of castellón and also the job well done by the port community", he added.

on the other hand, Port of Castellón has planned investments in the coming years for an amount of 157 million euros. "Will go to specific projects that will improve the competitiveness of PortCastelló increasing its connectivity by land, rail and road, completing the urbanisation, investing in intermodality and strengthening the environmental protection, among other projects", he added.
