The Spanish police arrested 56 pedophiles, among them several Latin american, that were part of a network that distributed pictures on the Internet of abuse of extreme severity whose victims are minors of a very young age, as reported today the Ministry of the Interior Spanish.
The detainees were sharing files with child pornography through Peer to Peer networks, one of the most widely used systems for the exchange of this type of criminal content, stressed the authorities.
In the framework of the operation, agents seized numerous computers, more than 173 hard disks and 614 compact discs and DVD’s with several gigs of photos and videos illegal committed by boys and girls.
Also were two revolvers, one of them with the barrel modified, in one of the records made in Murcia. The arrests were carried out in 28 provinces, including Madrid, Barcelona, Balearic islands, Valencia, Zaragoza, Alicante, La Rioja, and Santander.
After the arrests, the researchers now performed a thorough examination of the enormous hardware involved in order to determine the possible existence of crimes of sexual abuse of minors on the part of any of those involved -in addition to the offence of production of material a pedophile – or to determine possible connections with other pedophiles or predators that interact in the network.
The majority of the detainees are between the ages of 40 and 60 years, and some of them had been arrested previously for acts of an identical nature.
The research, which lasted for a year and a half, became one of the most important operational against the distribution of material of a pedophile in the present year in Spain, both in the number of detainees, as well as in volume of pornographic files of children and girls shared.
