Thousands of catalans are manifested in support of political independence processed – Telam

Thousands of catalans rallied on Sunday in Barcelona in support of the political leaders of independence accused by the Spanish Justice, for having promoted and continued the process of secession was initiated by the government of the northern region of Spain, against the orders of the national authorities.
The protest, called under the slogan “For democracy. We stand by our institutions”, and to denounce the “judicialization of politics”, brought together an estimated 80,000 people in front of the fountains of Montjüic, according to data of the Guardia Urbana-local.

As is customary in the last few years, behind the great mobilization for independence were the National Assembly Catalan (ANC), Omnium Cultural and the Association of Municipalities for Independence (AMI), which were submitted to the city hundreds of groups from different points of Catalonia.

“Mai caminareu sols. Cap pas enrere” (Never will walk alone, not one step back), could be read in one of the large banners at the front of the demonstration, which was attended by the former president, Catalan, Artur Mas, and its ex-directors Francesc Homs, Irene Rigau, and Joana Ortega.

The four are accused for the crime of disobedience and face a potential sentence of up to 10 years of disqualification for having organized the consultation symbolic of independence on 9 November 2014.

Also present was the president of the Catalan parliament, Carme Forcadell, processed by disobedience and prevaricato, for having allowed the debate and the approval of resolutions lieutenants to break with Spain, among them one that supports the holding of a referendum on unilateral secession.

at The start of the protest, Forcadell reiterated in statements to the press that is being investigated for "defending the freedom of expression of deputies” and was convinced that not the inhabilitarán for having allowed a democratic exercise.

On the same line, But noted that he and his government did not do anything illegal, but obeyed the “mandate of the people and the laws that emanate Parliament of Catalonia".

“we shall Not weaken, we will continue forward and to do this we will the skin. We are people willing to lend a hand and we have played by 7.5 million catalans," he said.

The main speaker of the ceremony, the president of the ANC, Jordi Sánchez, said that the independence movement will go out to the street the times that it is necessary to defend their leader.

“we will Not be indifferent to take the trial of the president Mas and his government,” he said.

“about the time of the truth. You need to decide if we leave it running or we reach the end,” warned the activist, who recalled that the protesters were there “to defend democracy” and to denounce “the offensive Spanish judicial” against a legitimate claim of the catalans.

Forcadell is the last independence leader who is in the crosshairs of the Justice for having taken decisions and initiatives in relation to the challenge of secessionist Catalonia that drives the regional president, Carles Puigdemont, who governs from the beginning of 2016, with the support of the anti-capitalist of the CUP.

“Today, in every corner of Catalonia, we have spoken out clearly against the anti-democratic excesses of the central State and the Spanish policy, which wants to solve through the courts, a situation that only has a political and democratic solution,” said Puigdemont, from the concentration which took place in his hometown, Amer, situated in the province of Girona.

Puigdemont insists that he is still willing to negotiate an independence referendum with the Spanish government of Mariano Rajoy, but the conservative leader re-elected ensures that they may not allow a query of those features to be unconstitutional.

The margin of this will, negotiator, Puigdemont is progressing decisively to the rupture with Spain, hence the central Executive responds ruthlessly with judicial remedies to challenge each of the steps that give the independence to the Constitutional Court, become on the field of battle and in the thermometer of the conflict, secessionist.

the serious procedural status of the iconic leaders catalans, add facts previously unreleased as was the recent arrest by a few hours of a mayor who refused to respond to a legal request to have remained hoisted a flag of independence at the municipal building.
