The NGO Oceana has presented the findings of new animal species discovered in the Canary Islands for the National Biodiversity Festival, held this week in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Among them is known as six fish eyes ( Dolichopteryx longipes ). Normally, this animal is found in the Caribbean seas and is the first which is located on the island waters.

It is the only vertebrate known to have developed reflectors eyes that let you use a mirror system to form the images, instead of the usual lens in living things.

Has this ability thanks to a two-part eye, pointing up, where is the ocean and the food and other potentially downward, to the abyssal depths where lives and predators that may arise.

Apart from this particular fish, Oceana also found other species like black coral and sponges glass that had not been scientifically identified in the Canaries.
