Asked 6 years in prison for explosive car hit PP headquarters in Madrid – Terra Peru

A man who crashed his car at high speed into the seat of government Popular Party (PP) in Madrid, with un-incendiary bomb that failed to explode, faces a sentence of six years in prison in a trial which began today.

“My intention was to bring news to focus the spotlight on a very big problem in this country,” declared today the defendant, Daniel Perez, 37, who he insisted that at no time wanted to hurt anyone, just “create alarm”.

The prosecution asks six years in prison for the accused, while the legal representation of the PP raises its request to nine years in prison.

The incident occurred on December 19, 2014, when six people were working in the building, located on a street in central Madrid.

According to the prosecutor, the defendant produced an explosive-incendiary device, loaded it into the car and traveled to Madrid from Teruel province (north).

He tried to crash the car into the gate of the entrance of the party headquarters, with such force that was introduced with the car to the inside of the building, being immobilized in the lobby .

In his appearance before the Provincial Court of Madrid, in which only responded to questions from his lawyer, the defendant admitted the facts, expressed regret and insisted that explosive artifact “I was off”.

On the other hand, an expert agent in bomb disposal, testified at the trial that the device was devised by a person with knowledge, which would dismantle the version of the accused, who said ” have no knowledge of any kind “in this matter.
