The Spanish prime minister, Mariano Rajoy, dissociated today’s possible release of former treasurer of the ruling Popular Party (PP), Luis Barcenas, whom the High Court and granted bail.
Speaking in the House of Representatives, the President noted that “Barcenas is no longer a while in the PP. What we would like is that this matter has now opened more than six years can be closed to more quickly”.
He said that the government’s position on the case of Barcenas and exposed several times, and submitted to declare all the people that were cited in court.
Barcenas, in prison since 2013, is designated to participate in various actions of corruption linked to the case “Gürtel” and lead a secret undeclared income accounting and payment of bonuses to party leaders.
With the Gürtel plot, Barcenas is also accused of favoring inf luences and decisions of party leaders in favor of employers participating in the plot.
The former senator PP also is charged with bribery, money laundering, against the Treasury, misappropriation, forgery and fraud.
Bárcenas collect about 200,000 euros bail (nearly $ 230,000) among family and friends, as their bank accounts were seized by justice, including some in Swiss banks.
The lawyer for former treasurer of the PP, Javier Gomez de Liano stated that following the decision of the National Court to grant him parole would not be immediate departure of the difficulty of getting money quickly.
The ruling is based on considering that the risk of leakage has decreased, which can be controlled and Bárcenas to testify before the court three times a week.
