Madrid.- Luis Barcenas, who for nearly 20 years was treasurer of the ruling Popular Party (PP), which had full powers; he was a senator, came out yesterday from prison of Soto del Real in Madrid.

Just inside the street and to the many media that awaited him first thing he did was referring to the prime minister, Mariano Rajoy. “I have listened to Rajoy, I thank you; Luis was really strong, “he said wryly and alluding to an SMS message to the pit itself sent when the Gürtel case broke (the larger pattern of corruption in Spain and in which are involved many members of the PP) and after the news that t he former treasurer had more than 20 million euros in tax havens was known.

Then and questioned by the party, whose members want nothing of it and merely repeat that has been expelled from it, said that “the PP has nothing to fear from me.” Finally admitted feeling “good,” not regret anything I did, and said that if I could would act the same.
