576 kilometers per hour, the new speed record for an electric vehicle – The Universe

The Venturi VBB-3 is converted into the electric vehicle world’s fastest, reaching a speed of 576 km/h in the united States, announced the French manufacturer said in a statement.

The VBB-3, Venturi Buckeye Bullet, also recorded an average speed of 549,43 km/h over a distance of 1.6 km, a record that must be approved by the International Federation of motor Racing (FIA).

Both brands were established on Monday in Utah (western united States), in the salt lake Bonneville (Bonneville Salt Flats), near Salt Lake City. The test pilot american Roger Schroer was at the wheel.

The VBB-3 was set to end in 2013 by Venturi and Research Center Automotive of the University of Ohio, and was expected three years ago to be able to set new records in this salt desert which presents perfect conditions for this kind of extreme test.

“weather conditions which have prevailed in Utah during the last three years led to the cancellation of the record attempts”, said Venturi.

“The progress achieved this year, constitute a very important step in our plan to reach 400 miles per hour (643,7 km/h)”, welcomed Giorgio Rizzoni, the Research Center Automotive of the University of Ohio.

The previous record of 495 km/h, had been made in 2010 for the predecessor of the VBB-3, the VBB-2.5. the (I)
