The police sought Thursday to 28 immigrants who escaped from a detention center in the south-east of Spain, after a “riot” on Wednesday night that left five police officers with minor injuries, said a police source.
Around 70 immigrants arrived to escape the public center, which housed 127 foreigners without a residence permit, in Sangonera, near the city of Murcia, 350 km southeast of Madrid, indicated to the AFP a spokesman of the National Police.
“Practically has returned more than half (of the escapees), (…) at the moment, missing 28,” said the spokesman, who said that from 21H00 local Wednesday (19h00 GMT) is active, a special device to search for.
“One of the aliens pretended to be sick and when he agreed for the ambulance to come out, rioted the other”, he explained.
During the revolt, the aliens “made with fire extinguishers and various utensils and released,” killing five police officers with “several bruises on the body,” according to the spokesman.
