Four arrested in Spain and Morocco for alleged links with Islamic State – Reuters Spain

MADRID (Reuters) – The security forces of Spain and Morocco have arrested four moroccans suspected of being members of two cells that supposedly acted in both countries in a coordinated manner with Daesh, or Islamic State, said Wednesday the Ministry of the Interior.

“The operation has allowed the neutralization of a potential threat to the national security both of Spain and of the Kingdom of Morocco”, the ministry said in a statement.

According to Interior, the detainees were “high levels of radicalization” and operated “by way of a powerful apparatus of indoctrination, radicalization and submission of new jihadis to the ranks of the terrorist organization”, receiving direct instructions from a group based in the conflict zone syrian-iraqi.

Two of the arrests were carried out in Spain (in Ceuta and the town of alicante Altea-, and the other two in Morocco, in Tetuan, and Castillejos.

With the announced Wednesday, the Spanish police has detained about 40 people this year for alleged connection with the islamist militants.
