Barcelona, Spain .- The president of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Artur Mas, signed Monday a decree early elections on 27 September, which aims to become a plebiscite for initiate a process of independence, while Madrid insists that regional elections are simple.
The notice, signed in a brief ceremony at the headquarters of the Catalan regional government in Barcelona, makes no reference to plebiscitary character independence forces want to give these elections to avoid possible legal action by the central government, which is Catalan opposes sovereigntist process, AFP reported.
But these early elections justified by the fact that they have been allowed to conduct a “legal and agreed” consultation on the right to decide, in reference to failed referendum last November 9.
