Catalan leader stop asking for “inciting sedition” – Deutsche Welle

The Spanish Prosecutor General has this Thursday (06/08/2015) on his table a petition to stop the head of the government of Catalonia, Artur Mas, of inciting sedition with the call for regional elections on September 27.

The ultraconservative organization in Madrid Clean Hands filed a complaint against Mas, three days after convene early elections in Catalonia that aims to turn into a referendum on independence. He believes that the Catalan leader acts in “fraud” and accused of a crime of threats and coercion to state institutions and other sedition “in their degree of attempt, conspiracy and provocation.” Both are punishable by prison.

The decree calling for elections was adjusted to law, not to mention the secession or plebiscite, a figure that does not exist in Spanish law. But in his public statements, he has openly said that this election to measure support for independence and, if he wins the nomination secessionist unit he sponsors, intends to declare independence in eight months.

Clean Hands asks the Catalan leader is suspended from duty and arrested. Its secretary general, Miguel Bernard, compared the secessionist process that opened two years ago with the intent of coup that Spain experienced the February 23, 1981 and the Islamist attacks of March 11, 2004 in Madrid. “They are the most serious since the democratic transition events,” Bernard told DPA.

The organization, which calls itself but lacks union representatives in the workplace, she has already sued by the query More self-determination without legal basis that sponsored the November 9 in Catalonia. Topping the Prosecution in that case, in which the High Court of Justice of Catalonia has yet to decide whether criticizes the regional chief executive. (Dpa)
