Grant parole to a repentant former ETA leader – Metro Chile

The Spanish justice conceded Friday probation political former head of ETA Jose Luis Alvarez Santacristina, alias “Txelis” which has long expressed his regret and was expelled from the Basque armed organization.

Judge stands by its decision, made public Friday that “Txelis” has already served three quarters of his sentence to 30 years in prison, he has expressed his “resignation to ETA, a terrorist organization that was expelled” and has decoupled “group of inmates who follow the directives of ETA”.

The granting of parole comes to this former leader of ETA after in 2010 he was granted a regime of semi-freedom with a right of ” Daily overseas departures “to attend various activities.

” Txelis “won this regime due to a favorable prognosis for their reintegration, but also because it condemned violence, recognized the damage done and apologized victims, reasons that have again been put forward on Friday to grant parole.

Arrested in prison Nanclares de Oca (Basque Country, north), “Txelis” serving a sentence close 30 years for directing the assassination of former senator Manuel Broseta university and in 1992, the year he was arrested in France.

He was extradited to Spain in November 1999.
