US Universities they remain reputed as the world’s best in the ranking of Shanghai 2016, which places 15 of the country among the top 20, with Harvard in the lead, followed by California Stanford and Berkeley.

Harvard remained at the top of the top 500 world universities for the fourteenth consecutive year, according to the list drawn up by the independent cabinet Shanghai Ranking Consultancy.
This ranking is made based on six parameters including, among others, number of Nobel laureates among its alumni, number of research papers have appeared in leading publications and many times researchers of each university are quoted in works of their disciplines.
But many European specialists complain that the ranking is very oriented towards the exact and biological sciences, giving lower relative importance to the social sciences which penalizes many houses of study of the Old Continent and Latin America.
