a Reuters witness saw unidentified aircraft flying over the border region from Turkey to Syria on Saturday morning, followed by the sound of explosions.

Turkey is supporting an operation that began this week groups of Syrian rebels to capture territory held by the State Islamic group in northern Syria on the Turkish border.

the village of al-Amarna is about 10 kilometers south of Jarablus, a city that was in the hands of Islamic State and was recovered this week by rebels supported by Turkey. An official at one of the rebel groups backed by Turkey said that fighters FDS held positions in al-Amarna.

The Military Council Jarablus was established with the goal of capturing the city controlled by Islamic State. In his statement, he called Turkey’s actions as provocative Saturday. “We confirm our ability to defend ourselves,” he said

He added that his forces did not approach the border to avoid any confrontation with Turkish forces and Syrian rebels backing, saying:. “If they do not attack our forces then keep secure the border. “

the operation backed by Turkey aims in part to prevent the Kurdish militia YPG or its allies further expand its influence in northern Syria. YPG is a crucial component of SDS.
