MADRID. AP. The president of the interim government Mariano Rajoy warned Saturday that a third electoral round in a year would make Spain “the laughing stock of Europe”, while trying to gather support to form a government and put an end to eight months of political deadlock.
the conservative Popular party of Rajoy decide Wednesday whether to accept the conditions presented by the Citizens party, smaller, in exchange for support to form a government. However, even with the support of Citizens, Rajoy will need the support of other parties and is trying to convince the Socialists to not reject it again, as predicted. Quoted by the Europa Press agency, Rajoy said that “if the Socialists maintain their position there will be no government.” “Hopefully not repeat elections, because we would be the laughing stock of Europe,” he added.
This week, Rajoy welcomed the decision of the small pro-business Citizens consider management support to form a new government party. Rajoy spoke after meeting with the leader of Citizens.
