Catalan separatists World Rajoy warned that his plan will break – Telam

The Catalan government will go ahead with its plan to break with Spain, he warned Wednesday the deputy of Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya (ERC), Joan Tardà, who used the investiture debate of the conservative Mariano Rajoy to charge the Spanish right and defend a referendum of self-determination for Catalonia.

“The Government (Catalan government) will fulfill the commitments to the citizens of Catalonia and the coalition JPS-CUP (Together for the Yes and the Candidacy of Popular Unity) will continue with the laws of disconnection,” said Tardà during his speech.

“We are not afraid,” launched the separatist deputy at the beginning of his speech, referring to criminal proceedings opened by the Constitutional Court (TC) a few weeks against the president of the Catalan parliament ago, Carme Forcadell for allowing the debate and vote on the conclusions of the plan for secession of the Catalan government.

Tardà Rajoy called the “reactionary” and charged that in Spain “the judges have become the new de facto power” replacing the military.

The representative of the separatists warned that if Rajoy does not want, Catalonia will hold a unilateral referendum in order to “socialize wealth” and “build a participatory, direct and modern democracy for the twenty-first century”.

“This is what we call Republic” and “lie when they say that if we left Spain will not be in the European Union,” said Tardà, without clarifying that his party will vote “no” the investiture of the candidate of the Popular Party (PP).

Rajoy, in his turn to reply, replied forcefully that will not allow a referendum in Catalonia because it is illegal.

“You can not hold a referendum on the independence of Catalonia because decisions that affect the whole of Spain take them all Spaniards,” he said.

“The decision on this matter is solely for the whole Spanish people, the right to deprive you will want for nothing democratic procedures,” said Rajoy.
