The Spanish Acting Interior Minister Jorge Fernandez Diaz, today remembered the victims of the attacks of March 11 in Madrid to celebrate tomorrow the European Day of Victims of Terrorism.
“Tomorrow is March 11, European Day of Victims of Terrorism initiative promoted by Spain in remembrance of the tragedy that a day like tomorrow twelve years occurred in Madrid and caused 192 deaths and 1,721 injured, “the minister said on arrival at the meeting with their European counterparts.
Fernandez Diaz stressed the importance of the decisions being taken in the EU to combat fundamentalist terrorism, and said that “today a significant advance in the directive amending decision comes 2008 framework on Terrorism, as well as regulations regarding possession and acquisition of weapons. ”
The acting minister said that even today the antiterrorist EU coordinator Gilles de Kerchove, will present a progress report on measures taken to combat terrorism, the strengthening of checks at external borders.
