Case of “The 13 red roses” made destined to remain alive in history – Venezolana de Television

Caracas, July 5, 2015 .- On August 5, 1939, 76 years ago, takes place in Madrid, Spain one of the events for its dye and meaning, was recorded as one of those events that will never be erased historiographical records. This is the squad of 13 ladies during the Franco dictatorship for political reasons and is remembered as the case of “13 red roses,” one of the saddest chapters in the struggle for socialism worldwide.

After the franquita army occupied Madrid and shortly after the end of the Spanish War, in the late 1930s, several members of the Unified Socialist Youth (JSU), held intentions to reorganize against the injustices of the dictatorship , which they were clandestinely. However due to the fierce repression of the regime, these movements were almost canceled the Spain of that time.

Inside the large number of arrests, they were captured 13 women on suspicion of belonging to the JSU. They were immediately identified with the red color to be considered members of the socialist, color that identifies the type of vindicating rescuer struggle and movement of peoples. Hence the name that is known worldwide this case: The 13 Red Roses

Their ages ranged from 18 to 29 years.. Thirteen Roses were Dionisia Manzanero Salas, Pilar Ibanez Well, Julia Conesa Conesa, Victoria Muñoz García, Luisa Rodríguez de la Fuente, Carmen Barrero Aguado, Martina García Barroso, Brisac Blanca Vazquez, Adelina Garcia Casillas, Elena Gil Olaya, Virtues González García Ana Joaquina Lopez Lopez Gallego and Laffite.

These 13 universal heroines of socialism suffered the most cruel and unimaginable torture. Nightmare who lived until the early hours of August 5, when they were transferred to the wall of death in an old cemetery in Madrid. The maximum penalty was decreed to them by a court-martial which the accused for the crime of “joining the rebellion.” / JF
