Madrid, April 15 ( EFE ) .- The Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy, today expressed his congratulations to the National Police and the Mossos d’Esquadra by recent operations carried out against jihadist terrorism.
Rajoy recalled these operations in his speech at the plenary session of Congress to report on the conclusions of the last European summit.
The prime minister expressed his belief that Europe will remain “united and firm” against those who want to undermine its democracy and freedoms “and considered” essential “before the jihadist terrorism strong cooperation in the EU.
Has outstanding advances in EU countries in this regard and gave as an example the work done in Spain Forces and State Security.
So, has he recalled that last March 13 National Police arrested eight people who formed a cell of jihadist propaganda, connected with the Islamic state.
An operation that he underlined, was the first of its kind carried out in Spain against a jihadist group.
It has also referred to the performance last week starring in Catalonia by the Catalan police to arrest eleven people accused of being part of a cell also linked to the State Islamic.
The detainees, he explained, had “proven willingness” to commit a terrorist attack in Barcelona.
Rajoy has congratulated both the police responsible for these two operations as agents that have been carried out successfully.
It has also considered relevant in the fight against jihadist terrorism ministerial conference held on Monday in Barcelona by EU countries and the southern bank of Mediterranean and which was discussed on how to enhance cooperation against this scourge which, he said, is a common threat to both Mediterranean shores.
The Prime Minister also recalled the jihadist attack Tunisia last March which killed 21 people, two of them Spanish, and took the opportunity to reiterate its support for the families of the victims.
