A Spanish judge today ordered prison for seven of the eight defendants arrested Friday integrate a jihadist cell, dedicated to spreading a radical ideology to the orders of the Islamic State and attract followers to commit attacks.
According to legal sources told Efe after taking statements, the judge of the Spanish National Court Javier Gómez Bermúdez decided to send them to prison accused of being members of a terrorist organization and possession of weapons.
The eight detainees are Spanish and five of them are of Moroccan origin, sources told Efe research.
The judge understood that detainees are a local cell of the terrorist organization Daesh (Islamic State) devoted to propaganda, indoctrination and recruitment of new members to the organization and recalls that all were under investigation since June 2014.
Gómez Bermúdez describes this new form of terrorism as “violent jihadism” that arises from the difficulty with which Al Qaeda is to organize terrorist attacks on the West.
The alleged leader of the cell produced and edited audiovisual material in support of jihadist terrorism. He came to hang a video on its website where recorded his 2 year old son answered questions father, who wanted to be a “jihadist”.
In his statement, said the sources, recognized You have a text with threats to the king of Spain and his family and is proven a phone conversation where admits working for the leader of DAESH or EI.
To Gómez Bermúdez, in this “violent jihadism” youth is used Muslims settled in Western countries, many even have the nationality of the country of residence to-face or electronically instruct them on how to carry out an attack or encourage them to go to areas of East where they are trained to return to the West to commit attacks for easy carrying.
The judge explained that the investigated cell was composed of at least ten people who constituted “a complex virtual network” on the Internet, through the creation of 52 profiles on Facebook, Twitter, Google or Tuenti and used in Spain the tactic of “information terror”.
One strategy is not, says the judge, only to exhibit violent video material, but is also a tactic of recurrent war in modern jihadi terrorist organizations to spread Panic in Western societies.
“Their goal is to terrorize the whole of our society as a means of destabilization and neutralizing their defenses generating the public the idea that any reaction to this kind of terrorism lead not be safe anywhere in the world and the possibility of being captured and killed in the horrific way they show the images, “says Gómez Bermúdez.
In the recruitment process, once selected candidates the second step of the cell was in contact with them imbuing of radical ideology. In some cases captured minors.
Finally, people who came to the end of the process they were put in touch with a member who is in Turkey and is responsible for facilitating the transition to Syria for those who decide to collaborate with the terrorist group.
Gómez Bermúdez highlights other aspect common to all detainees the fact of their difficult economic situation, some unemployed, living on very precarious means “This has contributed further to exacerbate their hatred of the culture and values of our society.”
“This, coupled with his loyalty to the terrorist organization makes them potentially very dangerous people to public safety, whose future behavior is quite impossible to predict. ”
