ENTORNOINTELIGENTE.COM / The Public Ministry, through the Department of Comprehensive Environmental Defense and Environmental Crime in 2014 raised environmental awareness and planted more than 28,000 people in the country.
This was announced by director of that agency, Abigail Rodriguez, on Thursday February 12 at the “In Tune with the Public Ministry,” broadcast by Radio Nacional de Venezuela, where he indicated that these educational and informational plans offered in two vertices: the first, for officials from various state agencies and, second, to the community.
He said that recently 150 rangers have been trained, who have extensive knowledge on environmental issues, as well as the creation of police records.
He also highlighted the work that committees have conservationists who work with communities, aerial reforestation and rescuing public spaces.
He added that this work articulated i n conjunction with other state agencies, aims to convert these people into multipliers for environmental care.
Rodriguez called not only to reforestation of spaces, but also to check the consumption habits in the rational use of paper, as the irrational use of it is cut down trees indirectly.
Combating greenhouse gas emissions
Rodriguez made mention of this environmental crime rate which is defined by law since 1992, and aims to punish that behavior of the natural or legal person who contravenes environmental regulations on greenhouse gas emissions, either by stationary sources such facilities in businesses or homes; or emissions from mobile sources such as vehicles.
He reported that the team of Integral Defense direction of Environment and Crime Environment, Public Ministry, together with various state agencies, have attacked this environmental problem with sessions held once or twice a month, where specialized te ams manage to measure these gases emitted by various sources that generate them.
He said it has been punishing people who engage in this environmental crime, which cause great environmental damage to the environment.
In custody of our Parks
The manager informed the agreed measures for the protection of the National Park Henri Pittier (Aragua) and Waraira Repano (metropolitan Caracas), which will be in effect between January and June 2015, with the aim of providing the safeguarding and preservation of these natural areas.
Also announced that actions are decreed the receipt and control of access to parks referred by members of the National Guard, who must conduct thorough reviews of people who enter the parks to avoid the introduction Materials and accelerators elements that could cause wildfires.
He reported that the most frequent crimes are illegal occupations for commercial purposes, and is also ill egal mining, indiscriminate hunting, illegal fishing, forest fires, among others.
He recalled that currently the prosecution has six prosecutors with national jurisdiction in environmental matters and 23 in different regions of the country.
