The Court ordered the case reopened on a tweet of Madrid councilor – Reuters Spain


       

MADRID (Reuters) – The High Court on Monday ordered the opening of the trial on a controversial tweet of exconcejal of Culture of the City of Madrid, Guillermo Zapata, a case had been dismissed last March by judge Santiago Pedraz.


       

The prosecution had asked for the case file, while the union Manos Limpias and the defender association of victims of terrorism Dignity and Justice wanted trial opening for a crime of humiliation of the victims of terrorism.


       

In a car known Monday, the criminal chamber of the Court chaired by Concepción Espejel it highlights several twit of Zapata, including one on Irene Villa, who was victim of an attack at age 12 in which he lost the legs.


       

The Chamber considers that there are limits to freedom of expression, which should be applied in this case in any democratic society.


       

Pedraz had initially filed the case after the pripia Villa wrote to the court saying he had not been hurt by Zapata.


       

Zapata remains councilman in Madrid’s consistory, although the case forced him to withdraw from the area of ​​culture in the first crisis that had to deal as Mayor Manuela Carmena.


       

The car has received the opinion of Judge José Ricargo Prada, who disagrees with the resolution.
