Esteban Escudero was interviewed by INFOVATICANA in February 2014. In that interview described his pastoral experience, his experience as bishop and his vision of the Church. We publish some excerpts from the interview:
You entered the seminary at 19, in 1963, could you tell us how your vocation came to the priesthood ? span>
Previously there were two types of graduates, the bachelor of arts and sciences. I did the science because my vocation, say primary, was to be an agronomist. My father was Castilian, Zamora, and along with my uncles had some land near Benavente, in a village called Vidallanas del Campo. I wanted to occupy some of the land, so as to be an agronomist. But at what was then the pre-university period, I felt a call from Mr. along that course and decided to go to seminary.
pleasantly surprised to find on the website of the diocese of Palencia, the agenda of the bishop, his daily commitments you tell us as is the daily life of a Bishop?
If, Indeed, we put the day’s agenda on the website, that any priest or layman knows the days that the bishop is in the bishopric, the days that are doing pastoral visit, the days you are committing, etc .. you could not really say as a calendar day of the bishop because it varies completely from one day to another . For example, today in the morning I visited in the bishopric at three thirty I leave to make a pastoral visit -a pastoral unit called Sales bathrooms- and I’ll be Friday afternoon, all day Saturday and all day Sunday. But no circumstances are exceptional, and it turns out that yesterday killed a beloved priest, so the first part of Saturday morning will dedicate to celebrate the funeral of the priest. So things change . On Monday I have a meeting with chief priests and delegates … In short, the agenda of the Bishop is constantly changing from day to day.
