The new Spanish Parliament is today after a short term of six months with a Congress in which the government Popular Party (PP, center-right) has a majority but not enough, so pacts necessary to legislate will be.

As in the previous legislature, in the House there are four main parties resulting from the elections last June 26: PP, with 137 seats, the Socialists PSOE (85) , Left coalition United we can (71) and Citizens (32).

The president of Congress is virtually assured for the PP, since there is no agreement between leftist parties and nationalists to present an alternative candidate.
The Bureau of the Congress is the governing body of the House and established its operation, so its control is essential, for example, approve the calendar of plenary sessions, determine which initiatives are discussed groups or approval of commissions of inquiry.
The Spanish Congress consists of 350 deputies, with an absolute majority established in 176 and in addition to its legislative functions, which chooses the prime minister.
For its part, the Senate is the House of second reading and is composed of 266 senators, 208 elected by universal suffrage on 26 June and 58 appointed by the regional parliaments.
