Lima will host the world meeting on sustainable urban transport – Daily Mail

The 23 and 24 May, experts and authorities from Colombia, Ecuador, Spain, France, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela will participate in the II International Seminar Trends Sustainable Urban Mobility in Latin America , which will be held in Lima.

This initiative aims to reflect on how to streamline systems transportation public and promote integrated projects to improve mobility sustainable development of the countries of the region urban, as reported by the Development Bank of Latin America

During the meeting, experts from various countries will discuss different alternatives transport and urban planning that contribute to building friendly and sustainable cities.

These alternatives include the quality of transport services, pedestrian corridors and bike lanes, in which efficiently use public space, reducing the environmental impact of current systems

Among the main topics to be addressed during the meeting they include: Progress and challenges in integration of public transport in Latin America. public transport systems for remote communities; non-motorized mobility; new management tools and financing of transportation systems; and technology adoption.

Urban mobility is a fundamental part of the strategy of action of CAF in the quest for shaping competitive, dynamic and inclusive cities.

According to studies multilateral financial institution, the transportation is one of the most gravitantes problems in the region, since, with approximately 80% of urban population, inefficiency of existing systems mobilization of citizens has not only social, but also micro and macro economic factors that affect the equity of the inhabitants of the region.

This international meeting is organized by CAF, the European Union (EU) and the French Development Agency (AFD), and will be held on 23 and 24 May at the Peter Weiss Auditorium of the Medical College of Peru (Malecón de la Reserva 791, Miraflores).

This activity will be opened by Minister of Transport and Communications, Jose Gallardo; CAF director in Peru, Eleonora Silva; AFD director for Peru and Bolivia, Alain Humen; . The French ambassador in Peru, Fabrice Mauries, and the head of the EU Delegation in Peru, Irene Horejs
