The possibility of reaching an agreed solution to the conflict in Syria seems to have gone a step further Sunday, with the resignation of chief negotiator Syrian opposition in peace talks in Geneva, Mohamed Alush.

Alush, leader of the military group of Islam, claimed that negotiations have failed because they have not led to a political agreement or have served to alleviate the suffering of people living in the besieged areas of Syria.

“the three rounds of talks failed because of the stubbornness of the regime and their continuous bombings and attacks against the people Syrian “Alush said in a statement.

the peace talks have been suspended since late April by the opposition, part of the Supreme Commission for negotiations (CSN), which accused the Syrian army and Russia violating the truce that began on February 27 launched an offensive against Aleppo.

The UN mediator for Syria, Staffan de Mistura, said last Thursday that he wants to hold a new round of peace talks “as soon as possible”, but ruled that this occurs during the next “two or three weeks.”

De Mistura considered necessary to see “progress on the ground” , particularly with regards to respect the cessation of hostilities and the provision of humanitarian aid.

on Sunday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his US counterpart, John Kerry, agreed to reactivate their mediation efforts with the warring parties in Syria to advance towards the end of war in the Arab country.
