A fire in a nursing home in Spain because eight … – Xinhua

 

MADRID, July 12 (Xinhua) – A registered fire this morning at a nursing home in the town of Cuarte de Huerva (Zaragoza-Spain) has killed eight people and injured twelve others, they reported today officials of the Autonomous Government of Aragon.

 

According to sources, the incident occurred in the Home for the Elderly Santa Fe, the town, and the fire was declared, apparently, a burning mattress in one of the rooms located on the second floor center.

 

At the time the fire occurred, it was inside the building 19 residents and a caregiver, but the cause of death is that it could be due to smoke inhalation, prolonged in some cases when dealing with needy residents assistance or disabled.

 

Moreover, firefighters explained that the caller said he had burned a mattress and had to go to the residence because they had to evacuate many elderly, but then found that the incident was bigger.


 

The injured have been rushed to nearby hospitals, while the Civil Guard is investigating the real causes of the fire, in whose residence the majority of tenants were people who exceeded 90 years and some of them with physical limitations.
