ABC of Spain / The Government has invited Artur Mas at ceremony to be held on Friday at the castle of Peralada with French Prime Minister Manuel Fences occasion the opening of a new electrical interconnection, but the president of the Generalitat, Artur Mas, has not confirmed their attendance. This has been explained in a meeting with reporters at the Moncloa Palace Secretary of State for Parliamentary Relations, José Luis Ayllon.
Rajoy and preside Valls on Friday the inauguration of the new interconnection line between Spain and France which will double the existing capacity so far between the two countries.
The opening will consist of two acts, one on site near the French town of Perpignan, and another consisting of a lunch in the Castle Peralada, in Gerona.
In this last act the Government has invited Mas, as explained by José Luis Ayllon, who has stated that Catalan president has not confirmed their attendance at this act of Peralada and it has yet to close if the same can attend any of its directors.
The new electricity interconnection with France, linking the towns of Santa Llogaia, in Gerona, and Baixas in France, and is expected to be fully operational in late June, will make the interconnection capacity between the two countries through the 3 per cent to 6 per cent (from 1400-2800 megawatts). It is an underground line of 64.5 kilometers (the world’s largest of its kind), of which 8 kilometers are in a tunnel that crosses the Pyrenees.
The cost amounted to 700 million euros, 225 of them met with European and 350 funds financed by the European Investment Bank.
