Madrid, Spain
King Philip VI of Spain called “nip and unceremoniously corruption” in its Christmas Eve speech, just two days after a judge decided to prosecute her sister, the Infanta Cristina, for tax fraud.
“The fight against corruption is an essential objective” to regenerate public life, said Philip VI in his first Christmas message since it was proclaimed king in June.
The king, sitting next to a window and next to two family photos acknowledged that such behavior occurs “outrage and disappointment” among citizens, but “it is true that those responsible for misconduct are responding to them.”
“Few issues like this raise an opinion so unanimous. We must root out corruption and unceremoniously, “said the king in his speech, just two days after Judge Jose Castro of the courts of Palma de Mallorca decided to judgment his sister, Infanta Cristina.
“The honesty of public servants is a basic pillar,” said the king.
