Russia says Syrian Kurds and Sunnis have joined the ceasefire – Terra Colombia

Russia announced today that the Syrians and many opponents of the Syrian regime of Bashar al-Assad Sunni groups Kurds have joined the ceasefire comes into effect from midnight tonight

“I have joined numerous detachments of the Syrian opposition in the east of the country, including Sunni groups have already contacted the Russian military,” said Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister, at a press conference.

Lavrov stressed that many rebel groups have supported the ceasefire within the deadline, which was met at noon today, time Friday Damascus.

“I had done the Syrian government. I am convinced that in the same way behave those who are in Syria with weapons in hand at the invitation of the Syrian authorities” he pointed.

He was referring to the militias who support the Syrian regime as military units sent by Iran.

Lavrov said the cease-fire does not include deadlines, so it is undefined, in response to comments from some groups that are willing to respect the truce for two weeks.

“The Russian-American initiative does not provide for any reservations” about it, he said.

The head of Russian diplomacy believes that “the success of the ceasefire agreement depend on the ability of the international community (…) to prevent the entry of terrorists in Syria and foreign fighters, and smuggling of oil and other commodities “that finance the activities of the Islamic State.

“This requires establishing strict control over the external borders of Syria,” he said.

At the same time, he criticized the US president, Barack Obama, to ensure that the war will not end in Syria while Assad remains in power.

“This is totally contradicts the US signed resolutions in the Security Council of the UN. They say that terrorism can not be justified,” he said.

In addition, also considered inadmissible any talk of a possible ground operation in Syria and the establishment of an air exclusion zone after the recent signing of the ceasefire agreement fuego.EFE
