Group calls on Turkey to release Syrian journalist arrested – Terra.com

The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ, for its acronym in English) calls for the release of a detained Syrian journalist in Turkey.

Rami Jarrah told The Associated Press on Thursday night, through a mobile messaging service, who was arrested while requesting a residence permit in the Turkish city of Gaziantep. Friday could not contact him. the reasons for his arrest are unknown.

Jarrah co-founded the group of independent citizen journalism ANA Press after leaving Syria. The agency provides pictures and information about the Syrian conflict to international media.

“Syrian Journalists and Jarrah, who came to Turkey for shelter, should be protected rather than be subject to arrest and harassment,” said Nina Ognianova Friday, coordinator of CPJ .
